GARLIUM® PRODUCTS:
- Are based on garlic oil and other active allium substances selected for their targeted activity and efficacy. They are added to specific carriers to enhance stability, flowability and mixability.
- Are highly concentrated, standardized and enhanced for optimum effects and benefits. Compared to standard garlic powder they offer a more cost-effective solution.
- Are available in different liquid and powder concentrations to create an offer to satisfy most needs. They are especially suitable for inclusion in supplements, finished feed and liquid feed products.
SPECIAL PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY
- A specialist production process involving extraction, distillation, concentration and filtration guarantees the highest quality garlic oil.
- Different extraction principals are used to isolate other essential allium compounds which are then combined with the garlic oil.

GARLIC – IN AGRICULTURE
Because of its documented antimicrobial activity there are many scientific papers reporting on the use of garlic or specific garlic organo-sulfur compounds, in crop and animal production systems. Today there are three main applications for garlic products:
- In diets of horses and cattle* as an aid to repelling insects. Once ingested non metabolized garlic active ingredients are excreted via the breath and skin, surrounding the animal with a garlic aroma.
- In equine diets as a nutritional supplement. Usually the garlic is added directly to the daily ration in a measured quantity.
- As a palatability enhancer. Several studies reported that garlic increased the palatabilty of the feed offered to animals and is commonly used in food for dogs.
*Do not feed Garlium to lactating animals where the milk is to be consumed or sold for processing.
FEED APPLICATIONS
- As a pure product e.g granules, for direct feeding in the equine sector.
- Herb mixtures for horses.
- Mineral supplements, mainly for ruminants
- Feed Blocks (licks)
- Pelleted feed for target animals e.g piglets.
- Novel applications e.g for broilers and shrimps.
- Pet food for dogs as a palatabilty agent.
GARLIUM – STABILITY AND TRACEABILITY
Active Principal
Garlic products are often marketed with claims that allicin is the main active compound. When the garlic clove is crushed, allicin is produced by an enzymatic reaction involving alliin and alliinase.
However, allicin is highly volatile and short lived (totally decomposed, if left alone, after 20 hrs @ 20oC). It breaks down to other sulfur compounds mainly dially disulfide (DADS) and dially trisulfide (DATS) – both fat soluble and have shown interesting beneficial effects when either ingested or as a surface repellent.
Traceability
Pancosma has acquired considerable expertise in the analysis of active compounds which enable qualitative and quantitative traceability in the finished feed or premix.
Garlium products contain standardized compounds allowing Pancosma to offer to its customers for the first time an accurate analytical service for a proprietary garlic
product.
Stability
The garlic oil in GARLIUM is a rich source of standardized organ sulfur compounds with dially disulfide (DADS) being the main constituent and the most stable.
